Title: Telecommunications Manager
Location: Herndon, VA
Project Overview:
We need seeking a senior level telecommunications infrastructure technologist to serve as our voice technology architecture and engineering lead. This is a hands-on, senior engineering position that focuses on transitioning traditional Avaya PBX infrastructure to a VoIP based capability and applying the resulting facilities to the requirements of our customers. This individual will establish relationships with key clients, design workable technology solutions, and provide implementation and operational support.

Responsibilities of the Senior Telecommunications Engineer will include but not be limited to:
- Telecommunications technology planning
- Assume a leadership role in planning for and designing Client’s telecommunications infrastructure.
- Translate our business needs into strategic plans, designs and technology specifications.
- Vendor interaction and management.
- Work closely with gent’s IT infrastructure outsourcer and telecommunications infrastructure vendors to design, acquire and implement telecommunications infrastructure and solutions.
- New business development.
- Work with customer’s sales organizations and engage our vendors as necessary to qualify potential new business opportunities, analyze customer business requirements, design telecommunications solutions and participate in proposal development.
- Customer and internal consulting.
- Participate in customer’s engagement activities, representing our telecommunications expertise and capabilities.
- Serve as an internal authority and consultant on voice related technologies
Project management.
- Manage large and small scale telecommunications infrastructure implementation projects
Telecommunications staff mentoring - Provide technical mentoring and development to other team members.
Voice technology currency - Stay current with new technologies and innovations, and recommend adoption of new technologies.
- Maintain a working knowledge of non-Avaya VoIP solutions
Technology implementation - Configure telecommunications hardware and software in support of solution deployments
Troubleshooting. Troubleshoot and correct problems encountered in the telecommunications infrastructure. Lead troubleshooting teams.
- Knowledgeable about Microsoft Unified Communications. Must be able to deploy solution in infrastructure
Qualifications
In depth expertise and experience with design, implementation and operation of large scale, multi-site Avaya telecommunications infrastructure.
Strong working knowledge of VoIP technologies and their implementations including significant experience designing and implementing infrastructures based on Avaya’s Flatten, Consolidate and Extend (FCE) architecture. Specific expertise and significant experience is required with integration of FCE components across VoIP enabled Wide Area Networks. Application. Avaya Certified Expert certifications in IP Telephony Design and Implementation or equivalent education and demonstrated, verifiable experience is required.
